Tips on making your own Fruit Platter
No excuses on washing your fruit thoroughly. It's eaten raw & easy to carry bacteria.
The more colourful the better. Make sure you put contrasting colours together.
Arrange large fruits first then add smaller fruits, this makes it easier to design.
If you are struggling with design use online inspo. Google & Pintrest are your friends.
Garnish with seeds, leaves, sometimes I use nuts
Use seasonal fruits, they will be cheaper & sweeter because they are in season.
For fruits that turn brown, use lemon to keep the colour.
Dont use banana unless you are adding them right before serving.
You know as Nigerias, we like enjoyment. Let the platter overflow. This doesn't mean you have to use more fruit, just use a smaller plate *wink*
If money no dei and your fruit selection is very basic. Cut it into nice shapes to make your guest feel special
If money dei. Buy exotic fruits to wow your guest
As a healthy bae I enjoy my fruit platters plain. Somedays I use yoghurt as a dip. If you like enjoyment you can go a step further & have yours with melted chocolate (recipe below).
Lean toward smaller fruits that you can keep whole, like grapes, dates, cherries.
Dont rush and make them too early ahead. If you are so excited, prep the fruit but assemble the tray closer to serving as assembling takes the most time.

Fruit Ideas
Red: strawberries, cherries, watermelon, pomegranate,
Orange: tangerine, oranges, peaches, agwalumo, papaya
Yellow: mango, pineapple,
Green: green kiwi, green grapes, melon, avocado
Blue: blueberries, plums,
Violet/Purple: blackberries, red grapes
Honourable mentions: coconut, cucumbers, pears, soursop/custard apple
How to make a chocolate dip
You'll heat some heavy cream or evaporated milk & add a splash of coffee just until it boils.
Take the pot off the heat.
Pour in the chocolate, 1tsp of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
Let it sit for five minutes without touching it.
Then stir until it's perfectly smooth and glossy. Shikenan!
